HUNGER AFFECTS EVERY COMMUNITY

Imagine going to bed on an empty stomach.

That's a daily reality for over 40 million Americans.

We believe that no one should have to go hungry.

Access to food is a fundamental human right and need.

Hunger in the United States is an ongoing issue that has fell off the radar of much of the public today. However, hunger and food insecurity affect people in every single state of the US. Inability to eat every meal or provide every meal for family members leaves 12.5% of America malnourished and more susceptible to numerous health risks. Food insecurity affects all ages, from children to the elderly. The issue needs to be spoken up about, which is exactly what we're doing.

FOOD INSECURITY IMPACTS EVERYTHING

A lack of access to food leads to many negative outcomes like...

DISEMPOWERMENT

Food insecurity affects people of all ages. Correlation has been found between food insecurity and worse general health. Food insecure children have increased rates of asthma, birth defects, and mental health problems. Adults face higher rates of cancer, coronary heart disease, diabetes, and pregnancy complications. The elderly face increased rates of heart attack, osteoporosis, and congestive heart failure. Outside of health issues, children and young adults tend to perform worse in school when not provided with the necessary diet for a developing human. The stress and fatigue of living on an empty stomach leaves many children unable to lift themselves out of poverty and allows for the cycle of economic instability to persist within their families for following generations.

OUR APPROACH

Hunger is no simple issue to tackle. That's why it has been an ongoing issue for so long. As it is a complex issue, we know there is no simple fix. With hunger demands in the present and the need for a solution in the future, we know we need to address it all.

Fasting For Friends tackles hunger with both an immediate and a long-term approach.

Not only do we seek out high-impact food shelves to help fund meal provisions to communities currently in need, but we also prepare an upcoming generation to provide sustainable change on the issue of hunger.

AIDING HUNGER INITIATIVES

We partner with high-impact, meal-supplying organizations to help communities in need of the most aid. Our main partnerships are made with food shelves. Food shelves are the frontline of defense in combatting hunger. Food shelves can provide ten times more meals using the same amount of money that a regular person would use when buying food in retail. What the regular person buys for $1.00+ in retail, food shelves can buy for 10 cents.

When you donate to Fasting For Friends, 100% of your designated dollars go directly to supplying meals through our partners. That's right, that means every single one of your dollars goes directly to providing meals when you choose to donate to our meal-supplying programs.

INCREASING YOUTH INVOLVEMENT

Empowering the upcoming generation, that's how we create sustainable change.

We engage youth through education, events, and activities to help them understand the issue around hunger and prepare them to be a part of the solution. Our network of high school and college chapters also serve as a tool to empower young leaders with the tools necessary to bring about social change.

No individual can end hunger alone, but a generation of passionate change-makers can.

You have the ability to change the lives of families, adults, and children,

so why not change their lives today?

$20 can provide over 50 meals
